Defining CSR and Corporate Obligation? 2007/06/27 18:51 Karma: 1
This thread discusses the Content article: Defining CSR and Corporate Obligation?

Speaking of cluttering up the forums...

Some funny acronyms:
Corporate Social Responsibility, caring & socially responsible, corporations spouting rubbish, complete sidelining of reality, corporate slippery rhetoric ... corporate responsibility, commitments to sustainability, voluntary commitments, commitments to [insert one of many] standards, compliance with human rights norms...what is this thing we call CSR?

Key Question behind the choice of acronyms: Is the intention to merely improve a corporation's reputation or to actually transform objectives and practices?

CSR = PR
I just don't think that the responsibilities that corporations take on voluntarily differ from those that any rational corporation would take on. If anything, CSR distracts from corporate bad acts.
